The Grates announced today that they will be heading into the studio in November to record their fourth record and have also stated that they will be releasing the album within weeks of their studio time on their new record label Valley Records and Tapes. They will be heading to Sydney to record the album with Ritchie Daniell on drums and Owen Penglis of Straight Arrows producing.
This all comes after the now married couple announced Patience is pregnant with their first child. No wonder they want to rush the album before bub comes. We are totally excited for more fun roc and pop tunes being released into the world, and hopefully we will also get to witness more of Patience’s super-cute on-stage antics. The question is, will we get to witness this before the bub comes, or will we have to wait. I’m sure we will find out shortly.
It has been more than three years since the band’s last record Secret Rituals which “Turn Me On” and “Sweet Dreams” featured as singles. “Turn Me On” featured as No.54 on Triple J’s Hottest 100 in 2011. The Grates went on hiatus in 2012 to open up their cafe/bar Southside Tea Room. Since it’s been a good while since the band had us singing at the top of our lungs and had us dancing around silly in the lunge room, here is the video for “Turn Me On” to remind you how much fun they are. Enjoy!
